Yoonly: A Visual Identity for Unique Life Experiences

Switch on Life with Yoonly's Dynamic and Textured Logo

Yoonly is a traveling agency that caters to the wanderlust of 20-to-35-year-olds, offering unique life experiences. Designed by Fanny De Bray, this visual identity captures the essence of adventure and memories that last a lifetime.

The logo of Yoonly features the letter Y with a pin, symbolizing geolocation and commonly associated with the travel industry. The use of duck green and orange colors evokes the sea, blue skies, human warmth, sunshine, and emotions. The contemporary lowercase typography draws inspiration from start-ups and modern brands.

What sets Yoonly apart is its attention to detail and unique design elements. The letter Y with a pin cleverly doubles as an on/off button, representing the idea of switching on life. The two Os in Yoonly form the infinity sign, emphasizing the everlasting memories created through their experiences. The flicking motion at the bottom of each letter adds dynamism and texture to the logo.

The Yoonly visual identity extends beyond the logo. It includes business cards, letterhead paper, and envelopes, all designed to maintain a cohesive and impactful brand presence. The business cards measure 85 x 55 mm, while the letterhead paper follows the standard A4 size. The envelopes are sized at 220 x 110mm.

Yoonly's visual identity is adaptable for both digital and print media. Whether it's displayed on a website, app, icons, books, guides, flyers, or business cards, the logo seamlessly integrates with each medium, ensuring a consistent brand experience.

The design process for Yoonly began in June 2019 and concluded in May 2020. Since September 2020, the visual identity has been implemented on the Yoonly website, further enhancing its brand presence.

Fanny De Bray, the creative director behind Yoonly, conducted extensive research to create a design that resonates with millennials. This involved analyzing youth expectations for travel through social media, competitions, and user interviews. Additionally, a brand platform was developed to define Yoonly's mission, unique selling points, and target audience. A moodboard of images and emotions was created to establish the desired brand associations.

The design team faced several challenges during the creative process. They aimed to create a universe that aligns with millennials' expectations, while also leaving room for creative interpretation. Additionally, the design had to be versatile enough to work with various destinations, such as mountains and seaside locations.

The Yoonly visual identity has garnered recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This accolade acknowledges the design's ingenuity, incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, and its contribution to improving the quality of life.
